METABOLISM: The chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life. Boosting your metabolism naturally is one of the benefits of losing or maintaining weight. With age it is said that our metabolism slows down. One product used in cooking or on top of your favorite dish to assist with boosting the bodies metabolic process as well as other health benefits is Sriracha Chili Sauce.

Sriracha: is a type of hot sauce made from a paste of chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt. It is named after the coastal city of Si Racha in the Chonburi Province of Eastern Thailand, where it was possibly first produced for dishes served at local seafood restaurants.  In Thailand, Sriracha is frequently used as a dipping sauce, particularly for seafood. In Vietnamese cuisine Sriracha appears as a condiment for fried noodles, a topping for spring rolls and in sauces. Sriracha sauce is also eaten in soups, eggs, burgers, jams, lollipops, and cocktails have all been made using the sauce and Sriracha-flavored potato chips have been marketed.  0118141740a

Sriracha is made from sun ripen chilies which are ground into a smooth paste along with garlic and packaged in a convenient squeeze bottle.  Only the highest quality ingredients and never any artificial colors or flavorings are used to make Sriracha:  Capsaicin is the main ingredient in chili peppers. This speeds up metabolism and helps the body burn calories while eating. It also reduces the amount of fat cells in the body. Sriracha is also known to boost the body’s ability to dissolve blood clots, improve blood circulation, lower blood pressure and fight inflammation, which is a major cause of heart disease. Sriracha acts like an expectorant and losens the mucus build up when you’re suffering from the flu or if you have a cold. The spice of the peppers promotes sweating which speeds up the healing process.  Eating chili peppers is said to boost your endorphins, helping you feel happier and promoting serotonin, which can enhance mood and memory.  The garlic helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

Sriracha can be found in specialty food stores at your local grocery store. I was lucky enough to find Sriracha at Big Lot’s a 32 oz. bottle was just under $3. I use this sauce frequently on almost everything I eat since last October of 2013. Just recently I had my 3 months check in with my doctor and to my amazement I lost 15 lbs.  Sure eating a balanced diet and exercise helped but with the added benefits of Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce did not hurt either. If you like spicy food and don’t mind the heat, I highly recommend using Sriracha as often as you can ENJOY!
